The lack of focus on the motion elements of the animation really held back the high quality and masterfully-done visuals. I also felt that more attention to the audio was needed.

In other words, the whole video lacks balance. If one is going to put a ton of work in visuals, they need to put an equivalent amount of work into the motions and sounds. Balance is tricky, but is absolutely necessary for maximizing the cohesiveness of content.

NG-Rough responds:

hi :)

i agree. the render of the single shot are very good but too much use of deep o field and motion blur ruined it in the end...an error that i don't want repeat! :P

thx :)

This is probably one of the best comedy pieces I've seen on Newgrounds this year. Heh, and it's all so true.

ZenithQuinn responds:

i wouldn't go that far, but woah what a compliment! Thanks.

Overall, not bad. Pretty good animation too.

Heh, I noticed the skeleton at 0:48. Hilarious!

Esquirebob responds:

Most fail to escape, it's an epidemic really.

This is a very worthy Newgrounds commercial. Simple-but-effective visuals, the right pacing, and good writing. Good voice acting too!

Jonimator responds:

Cheers!

A funny short watch. I really enjoyed the detail put into the sound effects; some people don't realize just how much impact good and well-placed audio can make.

MindChamber responds:

sound is 85% precent of any visual experience. sound is truly 3D

Looks like santa is going to HO! HO! HELL.

chluaid responds:

to Hell in a sleigh drawn by evil reindeer silhouette clones!

I didn't feel the suspense if that was the goal. The vignette borders were good, just the camerawork could have been better. Some dirt/detail could have been used on the walls and decor to make the atmosphere more intimidating.

TaraGraphika responds:

The goal was...to feel creepy...I'm very lame at 3D, it's my first time...sort of experimental. I'll try to add more texture detail next time. Thank you very much:)

Holy crap, this is nice! I hope to be able to do surfacing/lighting like that one day.

One criticism is that the visual quality nowhere near matched the animation quality. Other than that, the massive amount of blood and sweat (no pun intended!) put into this work is extremely impressive.

Osuka responds:

Thanks, a trick for the lights, activate always the DECAY, this will make it more natural

Though the animation/art felt weak, the little extras you put in there were actually pretty good. The sketches in particular were cool to look at. I think your inclusion of "extras" is an excellent idea.

Zeebra responds:

My action scripting skills were very rusty but the extras made it extra special. Looking back, I actually spent more time on the menu than on the animation :]

The video doesn't do the music justice. In contrast to my rating, I do think this would make a great, brief segment of an expanded music video.

Gerkinman responds:

Its for a monthly animation contest where you make short animated clips. I agree on the music, its a great track.

Hello. I also like looking at illuminated screens as well as pressing buttons. We have a lot in common!
