In the universe of Delura, there is a division between old and new technology. In this case, old does not always equate to obsolete, but rather a different way of thinking. As LI.BA.SIE and advanced telepathic-based technology took over, some entrepreneurs realized that quite a few people could not afford or gain access to it. So, while modern technology was meant to replace the old entirely, consequently it only spawned a new industry consistent of physical devices and heavily hardware-based components (as opposed to mostly holographic in modern tech).
