Hilarious! I really enjoyed the ridiculous voice acting too.

DannyGoodShirt responds:

Thanks for watching! Yea they would make great VA's. I wish they pursued it.

I really like what you're doing here, it's actually really inspiring. I gotta ask though, what the heck are you using for the 3d renders? Unreal/unity? Either way, I really like that its intentionally cheesy in the way things move, like some dude is just holding puppets and acting things out. As simple as it looks, 3d animation is often overly complex and along the way it is easy to lose sight of what the viewer actually cares about; i'm really glad that you've found your niche and can make content you can feel good about, this is fantastic work!

wavetro responds:

The software is Blender 3D, thank you!

Are you sure you did all the character animations? On your site it mentions that some of these clips are a result of a multi-animator collaboration. It is important that you distinguish these contributions in your reel somehow, and employers will put this fact under scrutiny.

Otherwise, fantastic work, and I really hope people really do see your potential to provide high quality 3d animated content.

RaccoonRezillo responds:

I have that put somewhere? Yes those animations in my demo reel are all my animations. I think any multi collaborations I mention would be just working within a project but still try to only show the animations I fully did. Thank you :)

O if your talking about tab MAP it's I guess collaboration to where each creates a part to a song but we fully animate the section that we got assigned for so those animations are still fully mine just a small part of the song which is why it has title with part number.

There's a strange truth behind the comedy of this one. Sometimes we work hard on creating content only to have people tell you that you suck. And, like all artists who get through it, the decision to ask "What the fuck IS wrong with me?" can only be answered by moving on.

shadowcounter responds:

awesome!!

"There's smoke coming from that poorly drawn tower!"

Holy crap you nailed the classic cartoon look and gave it a nice modern touch, fun stuff!

TalesofStuff responds:

Thank you very much!

Your 3d animation talents in terms of motion elements are better than most, I really look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future because skilled 3d animators are incredibly rare. Even more rare are skilled animators who can take advantage of the latest technologies available on the market, like Kinect mocap, integrating motion capture with hand-keyed stuff, using hardware devices to animate in real time, etc etc... stuff that requires experience and patience, and 9 times out of 10 you can't just look it up in a manual and have to piece it together yourself :)

Kel-chan responds:

yeah it's crazy when you think about it- theres not much info on 3d animation in general besides basic posing.

I wonder how monty oum got started in the early 2000s when there was even less info availible

It looks like Nwar made... a misteak. All faked out, just like that steak house by the lakehouse.

danmarkowitz responds:

It was a case of misteaken identity.

I don't envy the choice the judges have to make between this entry and Stejk's. I think i'll give my compare/contrast in this review:

'Chicken Castle'

- The idea feels more complete compared to the other short... a clear beginning middle and end, simple story that flows as it should. I feel the pacing and general shift between the various phases of the Chicken Castle short (especially the beginning) are substantially better than Stejk's entry. Maybe just my opinion but that's my thoughts on it.

- I like how you seemed to purposely use your style against the "NATA theme", then reveal the protagonist as the central point to link to its relevance. The idea of using your style as the "antagonist" puts some really fun irony in the mix!

'Animate in Your Opponent'

- I feel Stejk did a better job of capturing the look and feel of the "opponent style" and I'd personally yield more points for that judgement category. In terms of adaptability, I feel this short came out on top.

- While Butzbo's "style" is already known for its creative, whacky, unique visuals, Stejk's short was complimented with well-balanced lighting, smart camera work, and quality drawings. I actually thought I was watching a Butzbo production when I first played the file. I can easily see this short earning extra points for raw skill and adaptability.

In any case, you guys worked hard and rocked it in NATA!

Butzbo responds:

I think I pretty much agree with your points, and after all it certainly fits with the overall perspective of the judges, at the end of the day; the theme was the bigger focus of the round (and the main source for expectations), so it's a pretty clear conclusion.
Thanks a lot for dropping by and sharing your comparison!

This is some of the most original work i've ever seen on Newgrounds. Maybe its just me assuming things, but you seem to draw a lot of inspiration from the art style like in Rocko's Modern Life.

I really liked your usage of sounds too, and the music was well chosen and compliments your visuals nicely. I would be horrified if this didn't get a maximum score for originality in NATA :D

Butzbo responds:

Well you actually guessed it!, Rocko's Modern Life (along with plenty of other 90s cartoons) was one of the earlest influences I had, mostly to create characters, so there's certainly something coming from there.
Thanks for the review!

Beautiful backgrounds, and the title does deliver as it implies quite literally. Obviously, big kudos to OcularNebula's music piece; a very fun and catchy tune.

RadioTubeClock responds:

Thanks! I like his music, it definitely helps me come up with some of these ideas.

Hello. I also like looking at illuminated screens as well as pressing buttons. We have a lot in common!
